General Product Safety Regulation (RGSP)
On December 13, 2024, the General Product Safety Regulation (GSP) will come into force. This regulation will replace the General Product Safety Directive and introduce requirements for most non-food consumer products sold in the EU and Northern Ireland. The GPSR builds on the market surveillance regulation and on the provisions of other existing European directives and regulations.
The GPSR will not apply in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). However, it will apply to sales in Northern Ireland under the Northern Ireland Protocol. For more information on the Northern Ireland protocol, Amazon suppliers should consult the European Commission's web page.
This page outlines some of the requirements of RGPDand advice on how to comply with the regulations. This document is for information purposes only. It is not legal advice. If you have questions about laws and regulations concerning your products, we encourage you to consult your legal advisor.
Most non-food consumer products sold in the EU and Northern Ireland fall within the scope of the GPSR.
There are a few exceptions, including:
Medicines for human or veterinary use;
foodstuffs;
animal feed;
Live plants and animals (including genetically modified organisms and genetically modified micro-organisms used in confined environments, as well as plant and animal products directly related to their future reproduction);
Animal by-products and derived products;
Plant protection products (for example: pesticides);
For Amazon suppliers the equipment on which consumers ride or travel when this equipment is directly operated by a service provider as part of a transport service provided to consumers, and not operated by the consumers themselves;
aircraft;
antiquities.
The main requirements of the GDPR are as follows::
Make sure that any products you sell in the EU or Northern Ireland that fall within the scope of the GPSRmeet the requirements of the GPSR as well as existing labelling and traceability requirements. For more information, see Product Compliance.

Prove your compliance to Amazon
We will remove the lists if we find that they do not comply with RGPD on December 13, 2024. Provide us with the required information prior to this date to ensure that it is validated on time.
If you are the owner of a product brand that falls within the scope of RGPD, you need to take a number of actions by December 13, 2024.
First of all, you need to check the compliance of your products with existing legislation. Your products must meet all existing requirements and the corresponding documents (such as technical documentation and test reports, as well as a declaration of conformity, if applicable) must be drawn up. You must provide the declaration of conformity (or the declaration of performance), if applicable, to your responsible person and be able to provide technical documentation upon request. For a list of help pages with information about existing regulations, see the Product Compliance section in Vendor Central for help pages on existing regulations.
We recommend registering your brand in the Amazon Brand Registry, if you haven't already done so, in order to take advantage of the tools we offer brand owners. This will allow you to submit your information only once for each brand, rather than submitting information for each offer. For more information about the Amazon Brand Registry, including a list of frequently asked questions, see our Brand Registry information page.
If you have a subsidiary in the EU or if you already have an importer in the EU, you can name them as the person responsible for your products.
The testing laboratory or certification company that you use for your products may offer responsible person services.
You may be able to benefit from the services of third party providers offered by the Amazon service provider network. If you need help meeting the requirements, you can reach out to our compliance solution providers.
Once you've identified your responsible person, you'll need to provide that person's information to Amazon.
In the course of 2024, we will inform you of the steps to follow to provide us with this information.
In addition, you must provide Amazon with information about your manufacturer, including their name, registered name or trademark, mailing address, and email address, which may already be printed on the package or product. In the course of 2024, we will tell you how to send us this information.
You should also post a photo of the product and any other information that identifies the product on the product detail page.
Finally, you should display mandatory warnings and safety information on your product detail pages. It can be an image, product manual, or any other document that contains the required information. In the course of 2024, we will tell you how to send us this information.
If you are a reseller of products that fall within the scope of the GDPR, you must:
Verify the compliance of your products with the legislation in force
As Amazon suppliers, provide information about the person responsible
Provide Amazon with your manufacturer information
Show a product photo
Show mandatory safety warnings and information.
If you do not have the required information and documents, ask your supplier for them as soon as possible.
Withdrawal of the products concerned from sale in the EU
If you do not want to continue selling the affected products on Amazon stores in the EU and you have subscribed to Amazon Vendor Services (AVS), go to the Contact Us page and select Amazon Vendor Services Priority Support (Subscribed Sellers only). Select “Other Issues” as the reason for contact and provide a list of the products you want to remove.
If you are not an AVS subscriber, you should mark your products as “Permanently Unavailable” in Vendor Central. To do so, follow the instructions under Updating Availability in your catalog on Updating Availability.
Information displayed on product detail pages
Before December 13, 2024, we will only show information about the person responsible for products that have the CE mark. After this date, information relating to the person responsible and the manufacturer will be displayed on all detail pages of European Union products falling within the scope of the GPSR. Any published information must be printed on the product, its packaging, the package or an accompanying document, in accordance with applicable legislation.
Images, product manuals, or other documents containing the required information that you upload to Vendor Central will be displayed on the relevant product detail page within 24 hours of confirming their validity.
